Advanced Course Number 1, Lesson 7

I promised you last week that in this Lesson Seven we should go into quite some depths, and we have. The Lesson gives you a picture of creation that you have never had before. It shows you the reason for the "thought exercises" I have been prescribing, and it also shows you the dynamic power behind these exercises.

You may have thought that you have been "talking to yourself" in doing these little exercises, but now you will know that if you have done them faithfully, you have put into operation a great Spiritual force and opened up the channel through which there can come to you just about whatever you need for complete success, health, and happiness.

Read and study this Lesson many times. It is really a marvelous Lesson and will probably start you thinking in earnest. So remember, help yourself to grasp the truths that I am helping you to grasp. What I am telling you now is TRUTH. And truth always liberates.

In our efforts, to find and understand this dynamic GOD-LAW which I claim operates throughout the whole universe, you will remember that in your last Lesson, (number 6) I told you of the probable cause of this universe. I showed you the generally accepted modern scientific theory of the primary cause resulting in yon vast bodies floating in the ether millions and billions of miles away, and called NEBULAE. It is absolutely necessary that you understand the primary cause and the following stages of the creation, in order to get the picture as I see it exists.

And the creation is no less marvelous if we accept the nebula viewpoint than if we accepted the instantaneous six day creation. It is perhaps more marvelous as it is. It would, of course, be a wonderful thing if some power of other could call into being this universe in such a short time as six days, but it is infinitely more marvelous that this slow process of evolution has been going on through the millions and billions of years. Besides--I consider the exact manner of the creation to be not so important after all. The important fact is that we are here. The important fact is that every created thing was ever created at all.

The Law of which I speak and teach, exists, and no matter whether we are right of wrong in our understanding of the first creation, the main thing is the existence of the great GOD-LAW. For it would be absolutely impossible to conceive of such a creation as this is, without some guiding intelligence behind it all. The mistake too many people make is in thinking that some PERSONALITY is behind it all. They consider some PERSONAL GOD of other responsible for it all. This is the very worst kind of foolishness however, for no PERSONAL power of any soft could have had any thing to do with it. Those of us who are scientifically inclined, and those of us who have gone about as far as science can take us, KNOW, and we know full well, that no PERSONALITY ever had anything to do with this marvelous creation.

The story that some such personality of other did have, is but part of the superstitious religions I mentioned at some length in my last Lesson. But there are many people who, the minute you take PERSONALITY out of the picture, cry in anguish, "You have taken away my lord---you have taken away my lord." No such a thing. In all my teachings of different kinds, about all I take away from people is their erroneous religious and highly superstitious ideas regarding the "deity." That's all I take away. And by taking away such old dark-age superstitions, I am paving the way for a reasonable and intelligent understanding of the GOD-LAW which did. and still does, create every created thing, and which did, and still does, hold everything by that mighty LAW.

It is hard for some people to grasp the thought that it need NOT be a personality. They do not seem to absorb the fact that in the spiritual realm, it is quite possible for a spiritual LAW to be a self-existent, a self-thinking, and an intelligent LAW. They have the idea that if you take away personality from the spiritual realm, you have nothing left. But such is a thousand miles from the truth. For not only is it possible to have a spiritual LAW which Law is self- existent, self-sustaining, and intelligent, but SUCH IS THE FACT AS IT IS IN THE UNSEEN OF SPIRITUAL REALM. Just because the Power is a LAW, is no reason to suppose that it is an unintelligent LAW. Not at all. For there is no such thing as "unintelligence" in the spiritual unseen realm. All is intelligence--and marvelous intelligence at that.

To me, the beauties and the power are stripped from the spiritual of unseen realm in the very moment we begin to interpolate personality. For you may depend upon it, no personality is responsible off yon nebulae. No personality is responsible for yon starry vault. No personality ever was responsible for those heavenly satellites, meteorites, etc. No personality is responsible for the discovery of electricity of the radio. Not at all. The GOD-LAW, without personality is responsible for it all, and the men who bring these marvelous discoveries into being, are but men who are PRODUCTS 0F THIS MARVELOUS GOD-LAW, that's all.

How manifestly foolish and utterly unfair would it not be, to consider for an instant that an intelligent personality, even though he be called God, is responsible for the chaos, the crime, the misery on this earth to-day. Nation watching nation. One religion waiting to fly at the throat of another one. Racketeers--- bootleggers---murderers---poverty---sin---crime---suffering---injustice, etc. And you ask me to believe that an intelligent PERSONALITY IS BACK 0F ALL THIS? You go and ask someone else to believe that--not me--for I KNOW BETTER. It would be an insult to whatever God there might be, to class Him as a personality, and then to say that He was responsible for things as they exists to-day.

But if you presume the existence of an intelligent, unseen, spiritual GOD LAW, and if you could but see that all existing evils are but due to ignorance of this mighty GOD LAW, do you not see how the picture changes? And do you not see how much more reasonable such an explanation is? of course you do. And the pity of it all is--and the crying shame of it all is, that men and women have for so long been kept in ignorance of the existence of this mighty GOD-LAW, and thereby have had its blessings and its help taken from them. For you cannot use a LAW YOU know nothing of. You cannot use a power that you do not understand. As far as you go, and as far as you are concerned, such a Power of GOD-LAW does not exist, if you have never known of its existence.

There must be however, such an intelligent LAW of this old world and yon starry heavens could not last one moment. And remember another thing here, my friend and student, if there is such a LAW, then it is one of the most stupendous things that ever could happen. For YOU CAN DEPEND ON A LAW. You cannot depend on any of the many "gods" the world has seen to date, off you can't get any intelligent information regarding them. One religionist says this---another says that. But where a spiritual LAW is concerned, YOU CAN ALWAYS DEPEND UPON SUCH BECAUSE IT IS A LAW. Be sure you see that. Now what soft of a Law do you think it is, to be responsible for the utterly marvelous demonstrations it has made to date on this earth? What soft of a Law can it be, that can take two little germ-cells, and, BY SPIRITUAL LAW, MAKE FROM THOSE TWO CELLS, A HUMAN BODY? For that is exactly what happens.

Would you have me believe that such a LAW as that was not able to create for you whatever few things you can possibly need to make you, happy, healthy, and successful? Would you have me believe that? Of course you wouldn't--and you do not believe it yourself. You will probably be amazed at the thought of such a mighty GOD LAW operating here and now on the earth, but may I assure you that such is the fact just the same. You may depend upon it too, that if there be no such a LAW, then there is certainly no use of your looking some-where else to find it. You can cry to "god" in the sky to your hearts content for all the good it will do you---for any being up there, even if there were one, is positively useless to you of to me. I know, because I tried to find it for years. And it is not to be found. There is no personal "god" of any soft waiting to help you of me out of our troubles. And here let me add that if you are ever helped out of your troubles, it will be because of your understanding of the SUPREME CREATIVE GOD-LAW, which operates whether you recognize it of not, and certainly not through any help from "god in heaven" for such a "god" and such a place do not exist. They never have existed.

Omar Khayyam had it when he said something like this:

"And yon inverted bowl we ca}l the sky, Lift not your hands to it for help, For it as impotently moves as you of I."

But Omar Khayyam didn't say all he might have said. What he might have added was the fact that if you and I could but get in touch with THE POWER THAT CREATED Y0N INVERTED BOWL, we might be getting somewhere with a vengeance. A preacher said to me on the street yesterday, "Well, Doctor Robinson--if you take all supernaturally revealed religion out of the world, what are you going to replace it with?" Do you know what my answer to that man was? Let me tell you. I answered that question by asking him another one, and this is what I asked him:

"When a surgeon cuts out a cancer of a tumor--do you ask the surgeon what he is going to replace it with? When you dig the weeds from your garden. do you ask yourself what you are going to replace them with?"

This silenced the brother as it was intended to. No, we have to come to the acknowledgment of such a spiritual Law as I teach. Otherwise the world is hopelessly lost. Supernatural religion will never do anything for it. We have had too many of those already, and instead of straightening this old world out, all they have ever done is to plunge it into deeper darkness and night. They have caused bloodshed to come instead of peace. They have caused sorrow instead of happiness. They have brought fear, instead of hope. They have blighted and disappointed human souls galore instead of helping them. And we want no more of them. They have been weighed in the balance and found wanting.

And now, for the first time, men and women are getting a faint glimpse of this mighty GOD-LAW responsible for it all. Through my teachings, men and women all over the civilized world are beginning to see somewhat of the marvelous spiritual power at their disposal. and, heaven be praised, they are using this mighty power, and "whatsoever things they desire" are coming to them. That is as it should be. And you personally my friend, and I know not whom you may be, will find your answer to the poverty question in this ever-present GOD-LAW. You will find your answer to the health problem in this GOD-LAW. You will find the answer to your happiness question in this ever-present GOD-LAW, which, in the beginning, caused yon nebulae to create suns. and yon suns to create worlds, and yon worlds to create people. Nowhere else will you find it.

There lies on my desk at my elbow now, a telegram the Western Union boy has brought to me. Here it is--it comes from Akron. Ohio. I shall give it to you as it reads:

"OUR BOY HAS STREPTOCOCCUS THROAT TERRIBLY SICK WILL YOU DO WHAT YOU CAN."

I have just dispatched a wire stating: "OF COURSE I WILL DO WHAT I CAN. AM HAPPY TO BE ABLE TO HELP YOUR BOY." And while I do not know this man at all, I know one thing--I KNOW THAT THE MIGHTY POWER OF THE GOD-LAW I HAVE ALREADY THROWN AGAINST THAT STREPTOCOCCUS THROAT, WILL MAKE THOSE STREPTOCOCCUS LOOK SICK IN MIGHTY SHORT ORDER.

You ask me why it is I am able to knock sickness out as we try to do, and I tell you that it is only by a faint understanding of the workings of this mighty GOD-LAW. For it is sure. It never fails. IT DOES THINGS HERE AND NOW. And it will do them for YOU in the very moment you know how to use it. So don't forget that brother or sister. Not me--but the mighty GOD-LAW. And if the good folks who continually wire me for help would but recognize that fact, what a joy it would be. The time is at hand however, when the world at large will know the revelation of the Living God as I am giving it, and sometimes I stand still and wonder what will happen when this marvelous spiritual revelation of truth is universally known.

No, it will not be done overnight, for there is a lot of "supernaturally revealed religion" in the world yet, and until that goes out, the progress of the GOD-LAW will naturally be retarded. For many are looking to the church with its "god in the sky" for the answer. And I find it a fact, that children give up their playthings very slowly, and until a few generations have died off, this teaching of the true GOD-LAW will not sit very well with the good church-folk. It upsets their structure. It is very apt to put their ministers out of jobs. So they don't like it. But that is their worry---not mine.

It will be a shock to them to discover that they have been giving the world a false god, but that will soon be forgotten in the joy which men and women will experience in finding the TRUE LIGHT--the GOD-LAW---THE CREATIVE LIFE PRINCIPLE WHICH IS THE ONLY TRUE GOD THERE EVER HAS BEEN. Has it ever occurred to you that sort of a life yours would be were you conscious of the existence in your life of the ONLY SPIRITUAL POWER THE WORLD HAS EVER KNOWN? Has the thought ever occurred to you just what you might do if you knew that such a power existed for you? Well, you are to learn, my friend, before you have finished your studies with me that there is, as I said in the national announcement which attracted you to this course, a power, so dynamic that all other powers and forces fade into insignificance beside it.

Did you know, there exists in the ether, a ray which permeates all space, and the existence of which is absolutely known. You did not know that did you? Way out yonder, for millions and billions of miles, this Cosmic Ray, discovered by that marvel of science Dr. Millikan of the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, is existent. There is no part of the universe where this ray is not. Recently a famous English scientist debated with Dr. Millikan as to whether of not this marvelous ray came from a universe that is building up, or from a disintegrating universe. The Englishman claimed that this ray comes from a universe on the rapid road to destruction. Millikan claims the very opposite. The Englishman says that life is an accident, and the universe is doomed to destruction. He is wrong, but that is the only view he can consistently hold, if he accepts the theory that this Cosmic Ray comes from a disintegrating universe.

Dr. Millikan, on the other hand, contends that the ray is an emanation from a universe that is building up. He is correct and I shall have lots more to say about this "ray" a little later. But I want you to try and conceive here if you can, of an electrical "ray" permeating the atmosphere throughout every tiny little bit of space. An electrical "ray" if you please. And the existence of this "ray" is absolutely known. Its penetrability into a body of water can be measured. Does this mean anything to you? It does to me I assure you. For more than one scientist has made the claim that THIS COSMIC RAY IS THE PRIMARY CAUSE OF EVERYTHING THAT HAS EVER BEEN CREATED ON THE EARTH; think that over for a moment. The scientists claim that they are on the verge of a mighty truth. In fact they have spoken the truth but have not realized what they were saying. I am going a little farther here than any other scientist has ever gone yet. I AM GOING ON RECORD AS STATING THAT THESE COSMIC RAYS HAVE INTELLIGENCE---AND CREATIVE INTELLIGENCE AT THAT. Now does that mean anything to you at all. It does to me, and in the further pursuit of our studies together, you will find that the remarkable fact of this Cosmic Ray is one of the most stupendous facts ever discovered by man. IT'S ON THE BORDER LINE OF THE SPIRITUAL, and in this discovery of Dr. Millikan's lies a world of truth and a world of power. We shall tap a little of that power ere long.

Now we have the cause of creation lying in the far off nebula. We have an electrical ray, (we shall call it electrical for the time being) in existence through out all nature. Coming to this earth from millions and billions of miles away, this electrical ray is ever-present, and just what significance this has can only be surmised by you at this point in your studies. I cannot take you too far all at once. And before I go more fully into this "ray" I shall have to leave the subject for a while, in order that I may link it up later with what I want to. You will understand the logic and the sequence of what I am saying to you in a future Lesson when I show you what this marvelous "Cosmic Ray" really is.

One thing you may know at this point though. and that is the fact that when I tell you to have in your thoughts the thing you need when you retire, and most of the day for that matter, I have a reason for that. Suppose for one instant that there might be some connection between that Cosmic Ray and your own thoughts. Just suppose that there is. We have seen that some scientists have accepted it that THIS COSMIC RAY IS RESPONSIBLE FOR WHATEVER CREATED THINGS THERE ARE ON EARTH, and for the time being just let us consider that this is a fact. Do you see any connection now? Suppose that in some way or other, Dr. Millikan's "Cosmic Ray" is, in some unknown manner, a PART OF THE SPIRITUAL LAW AND THE SPIRITUAL REALM IN WHICH EVERYTHING CREATED MUST FIRST BE CREATED--THEN WHAT?

If that should prove to be a fact, then do you not see the significance of the little exercises I am giving you to do? I think you do. And I KNOW that by this time you are saying to yourself, "Well, just where is this man Robinson going to take me?" I know that you are realizing the mighty and the stupendous import of these Lessons. and all I shall say to you here is this--DO AS I TELL YOU TO DO. GET FIXED FIRMLY IN YOUR MIND WHAT IT IS THAT YOU NEED MOST ON EARTH FOR YOUR HAPPINESS, HEALTH, AND SUCCESS. And then, let the thought of its actual coming reign supreme in your thought-realm. You now know for the first time, that there may be a very staggering connection between your thought realm and the creative power of the universe. And, in the immense possibilities of this thought, you should certainly be extremely expectant. You should be very happy. Your whole life should brighten up, it will if you are following me closely--and I know you are. There are those of my students--not many of them- but there are those who are just merely curious. For instance, yesterday a retired banker enrolled for this work. On his enrollment blank he stated, "I am not interested in health--I am not interested in wealth--I am not interested in happiness--for I have them all. I am only interested in learning some more from the spiritual realm. That is well and good, for this gentleman will surely learn a little more if he follows me.

Most of my students however, are not in the fortunate condition in which this brother finds himself. I wish they all were. And it is to the intense--to the earnest that these Lessons will appeal. Even though these revelations are probably the most revolutionary and the most advanced to date, at the same time there are those who are not ambitious enough to really do the simple little exercises I am prescribing. I realize, of course, the immense value of these Lessons even from a scientific and literary standpoint. but more than all I am interested in the actual manifesting from the spiritual realm, the things my students most need. I tell you it is a joy far beyond any monetary consideration when I receive the wonderful letters I daily receive, and while of course we are living in a material world, yet somehow or other, as we find the GOD-LAW, some of the material seems to drop away, and we find ourselves more in tune with this great spiritual realm than we do the material realm.

For the spiritual realm is the realm of manifestation. It is the realm of realization. It is the realm where GOD is. Not of course the "god" of the superstitious religionists but the realm of the GREAT SPIRIT GOD, WHOSE POWER IS SUFFICIENT TO PROVIDE FOR US TODAY. HERE AND NOW, WITH WHATEVER WE NEED. That is the God I am talking about. That is the God I am daily showing many how to find.

Now. after having absorbed this unusual Lesson, you will have a new incentive to do the little evening exercises. You will have an intelligent understanding as to something of the reason for my prescribing your little thought exercises. And you will see that they are not quite as simple as you thought they were at first. You will see now that there is a dynamic and almost unbelievable power attached to them. When you repeat your affirmations from now on, especially when going to sleep, I want you to realize the existence of the "Cosmic Ray" and I want you also to realize the fact that a THOUGHT IS A THING. I WANT YOU TO REALIZE THAT WHEN YOU RELEASE A CONCENTRATED THOUGHT INTO THE ETHER, YOU ARE RELEASING IT INTO A MASS OF ELECTRICAL RAYS WHICH RAYS PERMEATE THE ATMOSPHERE FOR MILLIONS AND BILLIONS OF MILES. Never mind now just what these rays do, nor where they come from, nor where they go to. The thing I want you to do now, and the only thing I want you do, is to release your thoughts with the realization that you are TURNING THEM LOOSE INTO A VAST SEA OF ELECTRICAL WAVES, AND THAT THESE THOUGHTS ARE GOING VAST DISTANCES AWAY. That is what I want you to be conscious of now.

We shall have a lot more to say about this unseen "ray" in a future Lesson, but for the time being, get the point of this Lesson, namely, that your thoughts, concentrated, are by you being consciously released into a LIVE SPIRITUAL REALM-- THE REALM OF THE COSMIC RAY.

If your little thought-affirmation is for success, as you state "I AM MORE AND MORE SUCCESSFUL," realize that you are sending that thought out into what we may say is a static atmosphere of electricity. It is far more than electricity, but we won't go into that now. Just realize that you are not talking to yourself, BUT ARE TALKING INTO THE GOD-REALM. And you cannot talk into that realm without getting the answer. Keep this up until you receive the next Lesson which will be in about two week.

POINTS TO REMEMBER

1. There is in existence throughout the ether, a thinking substance which is spiritual in its essence.

2. Your thoughts are the things that draw from this Spiritual Realm the things you need.

3. Don't limit the power of the God-Law. Expect great things--then go after them.
