Psychiana was started the same year as the Depression. Frank had a growing business during this time.

This was the time of Amos & Andy on the radio, flagpole sitting, Babe Ruth, Red Grange, Lindbergh, talking movies, Coolidge, Roosevelt, Christian Science, Swedenborgianism, Unity, Hitler, Mussolini and War of the Worlds.

It spanned a depression, a war, a Communist threat and a time of great change.

Recent reports had said the the age of the earth was 1,850,000,000 years old, according to the uranium method.

Frank always said that Psychiana was original, but he could not have helped but been influenced by all around him. There was the New Thought movement, the Positive Movement, Annie Bessant and the Theosophical Society and their relationship with Rudolf Steiner. During World War II, Frank changed his marketing to focus on the fact that the war was caused by God-less people. He worked on a campaign with the King of Finland to use united prayer to defeat the Nazis. After the war, he immediately made an issue of Communist Russia and their Godless ways.

Some things never change: "There is the crime of our land. There is the saloon, which, in spite of all arguments for and against, sells a poison to American people. There is the problem of strikes, absenteeism, poverty, immorality, and there's a lot of that in our fair land. Our prisons are full, and so are our insane asylums. Our poor-houses are filled to overflowing. Venereal disease never was as prevalent as it is now, and our morality was never lower . . We find ourselves nationally head over heels in debt and getting further into debt with each passing hour."
